Hi, I’m Geryn!
I created my first pinch pot in Kindergarten, and have been working with clay ever since. I received a BFA in ceramics and a teaching certificate from the University of Iowa in 2009. I graduated with an MFA in ceramics from the University of North Texas in 2013 and have exhibited my work nationally and internationally. Currently, I live and work in Chicago, IL and am a ceramics instructor at Misericordia Home where I works with artists with developmental disabilities.
GerWare Ceramics is the lovechild of my longstanding adoration of functional ceramics. My pots are inspired by mid-century design and retro prints. I use the pottery wheel and hand-building to create my one-of-a-kind designs. I decorate my pieces using a monoprinting process with underglazes giving each piece a uniquely aged look. I am committed to making usable work that turns daily routines into daily rituals.
